In 1993 with the New Orleans Saints starting the season 5 & 0, WWL 870am's Buddy D said "if the Saints make it to the Superbowl I will wear a dress to the game, and I'm going to need a tentmaker to make the dress since I am so big"! On that day, Abdul D. Tentmakur was born. I called in to offer my services in making the dress, and from that point on became a regular fixture on the pre and post game shows.
At the start of the 1999-2000 season, I started writing song parodies about the Saint's players, coaches, etc. and singing them live on the radio. After an article about Abdul by Angus Lind, and then a story on Ch. 4 news with Jim Henderson, the fans wanted copies of the songs, so I decided to record a CD, and donate the proceeds to charity. Now five CD's later, and over $30,000 donated to various local charities, here we are.
Jan. 2005: It is with great sorrow that I have to announce the death of Buddy D. Buddy passed away on Jan 7th, at the age of 73 of a heart attack. Without Buddy D, there would not have been an Abdul. Buddy's pre and post game shows were the avenue not only for my songs, but also a vent for all of the frustrated Saints fans. He was always nice to me and my family, and supported me in everything I did. He was a good friend, and he will be sadly missed......God Bless you Buddy!
